What is staff augmentation? Hiring a dedicated development team in India

Hiring good developers takes time. Job posts, interviews, notice periods, onboarding. For a project with a deadline, or a rollout that needs extra hands for a few months, that timeline rarely works.

This is where a dedicated software development team, or staff augmentation, comes in. Both mean the same basic thing: trained people who join your work quickly, without becoming permanent headcount.

Two ways to work with an outside team

With staff augmentation, people join your existing team. They take direction from your managers, follow your process and work on your priorities. Payroll, compliance, attendance and replacements are handled by the partner. This works well when you already have a tech lead and simply need more capacity.

With a dedicated team, the partner provides a complete unit for your project: developers, testers and someone who coordinates. You set the goals and review progress, and the team runs the day-to-day work. This suits businesses that do not have an in-house technology team.

Who you can add

At Exillien, the people we place are on our own payroll and trained before they start. That includes web and mobile developers, testers, support engineers and rollout staff for deployments across many sites. They can work at your office, remotely or a mix of both.

What to ask any partner before you start

Can we interview the people before they join? Who handles a replacement if someone leaves? How will we get updates, and how often? Who owns the code and the documentation? What happens at the end of the engagement?

Clear answers to these five questions tell you more about a partner than any presentation.

Making it work day to day

The teams that work best treat outside people as part of the team from day one: access to tools on the first day, a short introduction to how decisions are made, and one point of contact on each side. We check in regularly with both you and the people we place, so small issues get sorted before they slow anything down.

If you need extra developers, testers or rollout staff for a project, tell us the skills and the timeline, and we will come back with a shortlist.
