When an automobile brand decides to move its dealers onto one dealer management system, most of the planning goes into the software. Which modules, which reports, which integrations. That is important, but in our experience it is the easier half of the job.
The harder half is getting every dealership, sub-dealer and service outlet to actually use it, the same way, from the first week.
No two dealers are the same
A large city dealership has a front desk team, a busy workshop, separate accounts staff and someone who is comfortable with computers. A small sub-dealer in a town may have three people doing everything. The same DMS has to work for both.
That shapes the rollout plan. Training has to be split by role, short and practical, and in the language the staff actually speak. A two-day classroom session in English does not work for a workshop supervisor who will use the system on a shared desktop between jobs.
What a good rollout plan covers
Data first: customers, vehicles, parts and open jobs moved in cleanly, checked by the dealer before go-live. Then setup at each outlet: devices, printers, user access and the forms the dealer needs from day one.
Then people. Our rollout teams go on the ground, train front desk, workshop and accounts staff separately, and stay through the first days of live use, when most questions come up.
Finally support. After go-live, every issue should reach one helpdesk with a ticket, not scattered phone calls to whoever installed the system.
Where rollouts usually go wrong
Going live everywhere on the same day. Treating training as a single event. Leaving sub-dealers until last. Not having anyone on site in the first week. Each of these is avoidable with a plan made before the software is ready, not after.
How we work on DMS rollouts
We have rolled out and supported applications across dealer networks for brands including Hero, JCB, Mahindra alongside Wipro, and Ultraviolette, with onsite and remote teams. Wheelint, our own ERP and DMS, came out of the same work: workshops, dealerships and dealer networks running on one connected system.
If you are planning a rollout, or one is not going as planned, talk to us. We can help with the software, the people side, or both.
